NaPoWriMo

I guess many of you have heard about NaNoWriMo. Apparently, there is a poetry equivalent: NaPoWriMo. Kudos to my friend Kate for the heads-up. I’ve been out of the loop for awhile, after all.

Now, I’m not very good at poetry. At least, I don’t think that I am. I have no patience for “structures” and this frustrated most of my old teachers to no end. I like to free-form and ramble. What’s wrong with that?! Well, I digress…

NaPoWriMo will be going on during the month of April. Now, if you didn’t post your first poem at the site on April 1st, you can’t participate “officially.” Which is fine with me, because I wouldn’t want to subject people to my lousy poetry. Still, I think this is a great opportunity to buckle down and commit to something. One poem a day… I can do that. In doing it, maybe I can enhance my sense of discipline and use that in other areas of my life.

Haikus… yes. Haikus it shall be. Although haikus are a bit short, I’m going to post each one separately, just for the sake of organization. Alright then, let’s get on with this…

Since I’m no novel writer, I figured I better find something equivalent.

Hooray for haiku and lack of structural patience! :)

Novels are great… unfortunately, they require much more focus… in the long-term sense, I mean. Focus is what I’m lacking these days, but I’m trying very hard. Thanks for alerting me to this NaPoWriMo thing!
