Tax Rebate: Will It Work?
Unless you’ve been living in a cave somewhere, you’re probably aware that the US government will be issuing tax rebates in an effort to boost our floundering economy. It’s a nice idea in theory- I mean, everyone loves to have some extra money coming their way- but I have to wonder, will this plan really work the way the government intends it to?

From what I’ve gathered, many people would rather put the money towards paying off some of their debt or earning interest in their savings account. Personally, I’d like to spread it out a bit. I’d like to pay a few bills, put some in my savings, and then blow a tiny amount on whatever suits my fancy. It’s rare to have an opportunity to spend money on something frivolous. I’m thinking that the manner in which an individual chooses to spend their tax rebate will depend largely on their economic/social class. People with more money to their name, for example, might be more inclined to blow the $600 on a shopping spree. Moving on down the proverbial ladder, more people will want to put that money to a more practical use. I guess it makes sense, then, that I’m somewhere in the middle of all that. Someday, I’ll be at the top of that ladder; if I was standing there right now, I’d happily donate my tax rebate to a good cause.
Just some food for thought. I guess time will tell when it comes to the long-term impact the tax rebate will have on our economy.
